(MENAFN) The International Aluminum Institute (IAI) said that it recorded a global aluminum production of 10.409 million tons in the first five months of this year going down by 0.1 percent from 10.313 million tons in the same period of 2012, Saudi Gazette reported.
In the first five months, average aluminum production was at 68,300 tons per day; higher than the daily average of 67,900 tons in 2012.
Low aluminum prices and increased aluminum surplus are causing some companies to lower its production capacity for the year.
