Kuwait- GTD Issues 28,136 Citations, Impounds 486 Vehicles


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Under the instructions of the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Abdul Fatah Al-Ali and his superiors, the General Traffic Department embarked on sudden security crackdown campaign across the six governorates during the weekend and registered 28,135 traffic violations, impounded 486 vehicles and detained 306 motorists. They also dealt with 1,291 accidents and executed 9 service orders. According to statistics, the Capital Governorate recorded 4,021 violations, as officers impounded 9 vehicles and placed 73 motorists in detention, while in Farwaniya they issued 5,200 citations, seized 94 vehicles and arrested 42 motorists. Also, 8,504 violations were recorded in Hawalli Governorate, where officers impounded 63 vehicles and detained 63 motorists, and in Ahmadi they issued 2,369 citations, towed 23 vehicles to the ministry garages, and detained 7 motorists. 383 traffic citations were issued against motorists in Mubarak Al- Kabeer Governorate where traffic men carried 13 vehicles away. They impounded 35 vehicles in Jahra after issuing 691 traffic citations there. Meanwhile, the Operations Department detained 89 motorists and filed 3,465 traffic citations during the week. It also impounded 89 vehicles plus 86 motorbikes, while the Technical Inspection Unit at the airport issued 284 citations during the period. In a related development, special team from the traffic department issued 2,058 traffic citations, impounded 59 vehicles plus 15 motorbikes, and detained 32 motorists. Many trucks and tanker drivers violated the traffic rules and were issued citations in a crackdown at Kabad supervised by Major Abdulaziz Shamlan Al-Rashidi.
