Qatar satellite launch on Aug 29


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar's satellite Sohail I will be launched between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on August 29 from France. After the launch, experiments and technical tests will be carried out for three months after which the orbit of the satellite will be 25.5 east, 36,000km up from the earth's surface. It has taken three years to make the satellite. Its weight is about six tonnes. It will be one of the biggest satellites and will provide best satellite services, including TV broadcasts, Al Sharq reported yesterday. There are also plans to launch of Sohail II in 2016-17.
