Qatar- Returning vacationers clog roads

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The road leading to the arrivals terminal of the Doha International Airport from the Doha Corniche has been witnessing heavy traffic over the past few days, with a surge in the number of people returning from holidays. Long queues of vehicles were seen outside the arrivals terminal last evening, as a number of people came to receive their friends and relatives. The rush is expected to increase in the weeks to come as more families would return from their summer vacation. All schools in Qatar will reopen by second week of September. With many flights operating in full capacity, the immigration section at the airport is also witnessing huge rush and passengers are complaining of delay in receiving their baggage. The rush picks up in the evening and continues until late night since many flights arrive during this time. "I spent around two hours to get out of the airport thanks to the heavy traffic and the delay in clearing the baggage," said a passenger who arrived at the airport midnight on Friday. The arrivals terminal is also experiencing a parking shortage due to the partial closure of the parking area for ongoing work on a multilevel parking facility. Earlier this month the airport had advised passengers to plan their transportation to and from the arrivals terminal, especially during the Eid holidays
