Qatar- QE investors' wealth rises to QR539b


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The banking and financial services and the consumer goods and services indices helped Qatar Exchange (QE) extend its rally this week. The QE Index gained 141.05 points or 1.45 percent this week, to close at 9,847.62 points before the bourse closed yesterday for Eid holidays. The consumer goods and services sector rose 2.12 percent at the end of trading week, while the banking and financial sector index increased 2.11 percent. The industrials sector index was up 1.33 percent and the insurance sector index climbed 1.09 percent. Market capitalisation rose by 1.42 percent to reach QR539bn as compared to QR531bn at the end of previous week. Trading value this week decreased by 44.42 percent to reach QR1.04bn from the previous week's QR1.87bn. Trading volume decreased by 49.59 percent to reach 21.7 million shares, as against 43 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 34.45 percent to reach 13,267 compared to the previous week's 20,240 transactions. The trading value of the banking and financial services sector accounted for 35.39 percent of the total, followed by the industrial sector (25.08 percent) and the consumer goods and services sector (12.75 percent). The banking and financial services sector led trading volume during the week, accounting for 40.21 percent of the, followed by the real estate sector which accounted for 22.07 percent. The industrial sector's total traded volume stood 13.98 percent. The total trading numbers were also led by the banking and financial services sector with 35.55 percent of the total number of transactions, followed by industrial sector, which accounted for 25.98 percent. The consumer goods and services sector ranked third, accounting for 10.91 percent followed by the real estate sector with 10.87 percent. Of the 42 companies listed, 30 ended this week higher. Nine fell and three companies remained unchanged. Industries Qatar led trading value during the week with 12.79 percent of the total, followed by Masraf Al Rayan (9.97 percent) and Qatar Navigation (9.24 percent). Yesterday, the bourse added 44.43 points or 0.45 percent to advance to 9,847.62 points from Tuesday's 9,803.19. The volume of the shares traded increased to 5,795,230 from 5,450,832 and the value of shares increased to QR555m from QR267m.Among the top gainers were Qatar National Bank, Masraf Al Rayan, Doha Bank and Qatar Fuel. Qatar National Bank was up 1.09 percent to QR176.50. Masraf Al Rayan gained 2.04 percent to QR30. Doha Bank gained 0.94 percent to QR53.50 and Qatar Fuel was up by 0.73 percent to QR275. The banking and financial sector index increased by 0.93 points while the consumer goods and services sector index gained 0.46 points and the industrial sector was up by 0.37 points.
