Obama May Cancel Moscow Trip

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The White House said Tuesday that it will announce in coming days whether US President Barack Obama is going to cancel a visit to Moscow. Whitehouse Spokesman Jay Carney said Obama still plans to go to St. Petersburg next month for the Group of 20 summit with other leading economic nations. But Carney says a stop in Moscow for one-on-one talks with Putin is under evaluation. The White House was rebuffed in its requests to have Snowden extradited to the US to face charges of espionage. Russia granted a year of asylum to Snowden on Thursday, allowing him to quietly slip out of the Moscow airport where he had been holed up for almost six weeks.
