Saudi Arabia to procure land with USD800 million for metro project


(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia intends to spend USD800 million to purchase the land on which the Riyadh metro is set to be constructed, Saudi Gazette reported. President of the Arriyadh Development Authority which has the project, Ibrahim Bin Muhammad Al-Sultan, said: �This is already budgeted and we are talking about SR3 billion compensation for the land to be acquired.� �The land is already chosen and the teams already started the process three months ago,� he added. The construction of the metro will commence in the first quarter of next year and is expected to be completed five years after. The project will consist of six 176 kilometer rail lines and operate electric trains with no drivers. The Saudi government gave three contracts worth USD22.5 billion for the construction and design of the metro.
