Kuwait- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah receives King Abdallah II

(MENAFN- Arab Times)  MP Marzouq Al-Ghamin formally announced he will contest for the position of Parliament Speaker on August 6. The independent lawmaker will be running against speaker of the last annulled Assembly, Ali Al-Rashid, as well as MPs Ali Al-Omair and Roudhan Al-Roudhan. "This new phase requires young leadership and new thoughts to reflect the aspirations of the nation. It requires leadership that represents balance and moderation and works to promote a spirit of cooperation and responsibility," he stated. Meanwhile, MP Ali Al-Rashid commented that the Parliament Speaker election is an honorable competition between a number of MPs and shouldn't create division between colleagues. He assured that this Assembly will remain and could complete its four-year term. On another note, many lawmakers gathered Wednesday evening at the diwaniya of MP Saadoun Al-Otaibi as a "get to know" and to discuss the national priorities in the upcoming legislative round as well as elections of the Parliament committees and the head panel, which will likely take place on August 6 following the opening ceremony with HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
