Abu Dhabi hosts 250 UAE concierges


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Les Clefs d'Or UAE, the regional chapter of the Union Internationale Des Concierges d'Hotels (UICH), hosted its annual general assembly for the second time in Abu Dhabi, with support from Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA). The meeting of members representing five-star properties from all seven emirates and other GCC countries - under the co-ordination of the Abu Dhabi Concierge Group€"heard from some of Abu Dhabi's leading tourism providers in a workshop at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi Yas Island Hotel, followed by an action-packed afternoon at the award-winning Yas Waterworld aqua park - recently voted the Middle East's leading attraction. "Visitor experiences across Abu Dhabi, and in particular Yas Island, continue to grow, and we welcome the opportunity to influence these important destination advocates as part of our ongoing outreach programme to drive tourism growth to Abu Dhabi," said Saeed Al Dhaheri, tourism information services manager, TCA Abu Dhabi. The group - consisting Les clefs d'Or members and concierges from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah - were given insight into the wide range of world-class options available on Yas Island. Featured were the leading attractions of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld; the new Yas Beach, which is set on the island's tranquil southern shores; and the complimentary Yas Express shuttle service which connects all of the island's sights throughout the day. Later, the meeting continued with an educational seminar from Nasif Kayed, general manager at Shaikh Mohammed Centre for Culture and Understanding, on topic of Ramadan, and Les Clefs d'Or UAE supported the Al Noor Centre for special needs based in Abu Dhabi. Charles Ferrer, president of Les Clefs d'Or and chief concierge at the five-star H-Hotel Dubai stressed the value of hosting the meeting in Abu Dhabi. "As Les Clefs d'Or continues to grow, the opportunity to experience the destination demonstrates our strong commitment to support continuous development of our members." The organisation is led by the executive committee, whom include: President Charles Ferrer (The H Hotel), first vice-president Royston Sixtus (Burj Al Arab), secretary-general Abey Sam (Jebel Ali Hotel and Golf Resort), and Ashok Kuckian, president of Abu Dhabi Concierge Group and assistant secretary-general for Les Clefs d'Or UAE. The executive committee and various additional members of the executive committee pulled out all the stops for the assembly.
