UAE- Bank of Baroda marks 106th foundation day


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Bank of Baroda, the only Indian lender that has full-fledged banking operations in the UAE, marked its 106th foundation day on July 20 by distributing more than 4,000 Iftar kits at different labour camps. The main event was held at Sonapur labour camp of Dubai where K.V. Ramamoorthy, bank's chief executive for the GCC region, gave away Iftar kits. Workers of different nationalities including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Philippines, Indonesia, Egypt and Yemen were present on this occasion. Similar events were organised by the bank at various labour camps in Deira, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah. ۬Ramamoorthy said the initative was in line with the bank's commitment to serve the community during the Holy Month of Ramadan. In its capacity as one of the llargest public sector banks in India, Bank of Baroda opened its 100th overseas bank branch at DIFC in Dubai in March this year. The bank, which began its journey with its first branch in India 106 years ago, currently has 4,200 branches in India and 100 branches abroad, including six in the UAE. Its first branch opened in the UAE in 1974. Since then the bank has been playing a key role as a facilitator in trade and commerce between India, the UAE and the GCC region as India's international bank.
