UAE- 4 saved from RAK valley

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  The rescue teams and comprehensive patrols of the RAK Police managed to save four foreigners who lost their way in a wild valley of the emirate. A senior officer on Friday night said the rescued expatriates of European and Asian nationalities, included two women who had gone to explore the area. RAK Police Deputy Chief Commandant Brigadier Mohammed Al Nubi said the central operation room was alerted at around 1.30pm that four foreigners had been lost since Thursday. "Flown by Lt-Col Saeed Rashid, a rescue helicopter was dispatched to the first location the foreigners were lost." The chopper intensively surveyed the area until it located the lost people, he said. "The site (was) very wild and full of ups and downs, so the pilot sent ambulance and rescue teams to help them." The rescue teams, headed by senior non-commissioned officer Muhair Al Khatiri, climbed for five kilometres to the top of the valley. "Special tools and equipment were then used to rescue the four (foreigners) who received first aid as well, because they were exhausted." The four expatriates were shifted to the hospital for treatment and medical care. "They are all in good condition, and will be discharged from the hospital soon." Al Nubi said the rescue operation took four hours and was mainly done during noon, while workers were fasting. "All residents, tourists, and mount climbers are urged to take due precautions, particularly at wild areas."
