Chilean Antofagasta wins approval for USD600m project


(MENAFN) Chilean miner Antofagasta Minerals has won clearence from a regional environmental commission for its USD600 million Oxidos Encuentro copper project in the north of the Andean country. The project, which entails mining the Encuentro pit in the Centinela district, is set to be completed next year and begin initial production in 2016. The company expects the mine to have an average output capacity of 50,000 tonnes of copper cathodes per year over eight years.
