AFESD, Yemen sign three financing agreements totaling USD 204 mln


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Yemen signed with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) on Tuesday three agreements totaling USD 204 million to finance several projects, including rebuilding damaged areas and Aden Teaching Hospital, and road expansion new Sanaa. According to a statement by Yemeni Planning and International Cooperation Ministry, the agreements were signed by AFESD representative and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammad Al-Sa'adi, who praised AFESD's contribution in propping up the development and stability paths as well as the fund's keenness to meet the developmental needs in Yemen. The statement said the agreements come under the Kuwait-based fund's fulfillment of its pledges during the Riyadh conference to allocate USD 35 million for reconstructing Abyan affected areas, USD 63 million for equipping Aden Teaching Hospital, and for improving and expanding Sanaa-Hodeidah highway at a total cost of more than USD 106 million. The minister also hailed the financing of such projects which aimed at contributing to the health sector in Aden, and support the medical college in Aden University. The project of Abyan will contribute in rebuilding areas damaged by acts of terrorism in the province by restoring vital services to vital installations, including helping victims affected by attacks, Al-Sa'adi added.
