UAE- Mohammed receives media leaders


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received editors-in-chief of local newspapers, national media leaders, representatives of Arab and international news agencies and TV channels operating in the country druing a Ramadan evening, organised by the Dubai Government Media Office, at Mina A Salam Hotel on Monday. Shaikh Mohammed welcomed journalists and exchanged greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. During the evening, Shaikh Mohammed granted Dh5 million to the UAE Journalists Association on the advent of Ramadan. Present in the meeting were Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The Vice-President, following an Iftar, discussed with the journalists a number of national issues such as development in the UAE, his vision for the future of national economy in particular and international economy in general. "Our country in general and Dubai in particular is moving steadily to attain more achievements, which would satisfy the citizens and secure a dignified life for them, stability and welfare," Shaikh Mohammed said. In his reply to questions by journalists, Shaikh Mohammed said the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government, which turned from a college that served trainees in the field of management from the Dubai Government staff into a model college attracting large numbers of Arab citizens to train them on the principles of government leadership. "This is a source of pride for us since we have become a role model for the Arab world in various fields and we open all doors for them to benefit from our successful experiences. "This makes me very happy when I see the Emirati youth train their Arab counterparts, especially from Iraq, Libya and Yemen." He also stressed the importance of persistence and confidence in the abilities, and discarding doubtlessness since it killed innovation and caused frustration. He also spoke about the current Arab situation, stressing that the people in some Arab countries needed a change in political, economic and social fields and what was going on in some Arab countries was a natural result of the political, economic and social pressures, in addition to the lack of job opportunities, especially for the new university graduates. He added, "We wish all prosperity, stability and economic recovery for all brotherly Arab peoples so as to spread peace and prosperity in the Arab world since we are part of it." Shaikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority; Shaikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum; Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs; and Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman were also present.
