(MENAFN- Arab Times) Officials from Ministry of Electricity and Water launched an intensive campaign in Fahaheel, Fintas and Mangaf during which they arrested several individuals who were stealing electricity and water, and issued a number of citations against violations, reports Al-Qabas daily. In a press statement, Assistant Undersecretary of Water Operations and Maintenance Sector Mohammad Boushahri said the sector formed tree teams to follow up on the violators and issue citations. He revealed that the inspection was carried out on a 15-storey building under construction where they discovered the theft of water that was ongoing from the time the construction work started.
Meanwhile, Boushahri bid the consumers to pay their pending dues. He revealed that Minister of Electricity and Water Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim issued direct instructions to cut off the water supply to those consumers whose dues are above KD 10,000 and who failed to settle those dues even after they were sent notices. He stressed that the thieves of state properties will not be exempted unless they pay all the ministerial dues.
