Cultural programme to enrich residents


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  The cultural programme of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, 17th session, is to see an array of lectures about Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) over the period from July 10€"27. Chairman of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award Ibrahim Bu Melha said the cultural programme included several lectures for Arabs and non-Arabic speaking residents here. "Renowned Syrian scholar Dr Mohammed Ratib Al Nabulsi shall give a lecture on the humanitarian aspects of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) on July 11, followed by a lecture themed 'General aspects of the Prophet's biography' by popular Saudi scholar Dr Sheikh Abdul Wahhab Al Turairi on July 12." "Further, the programme included three more lectures on the 'Prophet's deep thinking of the Quran' by Dr Ibrahim Al Duwaish, the 'Prophet's training to achieve set goals' by Sheikh Talal Fakhir, and finally 'A bringer of good tidings and a warner' by popular Egyptian scholar Dr Omar Abdul Kafi," he added. The 22-lecture programme takes place at three different areas: the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (for men and women), Women Renaissance Society (for women only), and Social Reform Society (open for foreign communities). "All lectures are slated to start at 10.30pm every night after the Taraweeh Prayer. Meanwhile, nine lectures are to be given for women only at the Women Renaissance Society. Dr Al Nabulsi started the women-only programme with a lecture on the mercy of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) on Wednesday night. The other lectures are to spotlight some issues, such as the Prophet and women emancipation, how merciful the Prophet was preaching, how to best memorise and implement the Prophet's Sunnah (instructions), how happy the Prophet was, the impact of the Prophet's Sunnah on our life, the Prophet's biography, and how important it is to follow the Prophet to be loved by Allah. As for non-Arabic speaking residents, Sheikh Kazi Ibrahim is to start the cultural programme with a lecture in Bengali on the 'Prophet's biography' on July 18 at the Social Reform Society, Al Twar area. The remaining six lectures are to be given in Malayalam and Tamil on 'Prophet of peace in the crucial time of history', 'Human values and relationship from seerat (path) of Prophet', 'Morality of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) with people', 'Prophet Mohammed, the best role model', 'Dignity of the Prophet's message', and 'Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)'. The 11-category award, which is aimed to serve the Holy Quran and promote the general standard of the Quranic performance, is to see, as of July 17, 89 contestants from the over 160 countries contacted from across the world to participate in the competition which is held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. "Big prizes await toppers: the first winner is awarded Dh250,000, the second is given Dh200,000, and the third Dh150,000. Winners from fourth through to tenth are gifted Dh65,000 - Dh5,000 less each. The rest of the participants are prized a bonus of Dh30,000 each," he said.
