China encouraging electric cars useage

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) China's first electric car rental outlet opened in Shanghai, as the government encourages a push toward a greener landscape offering large subsidies to help the fledgeling electric car industry gain traction. Among the goodies offered is free car plates and incentives for private ownership of electric cars, while consumers can rent an electric car for US$25.00 a day, cheaper than renting petrol fuelled cars in Shanghai. A company Auto Services Co has set itself the aim of running 200 electric cars and offering them for rental in Shanghai in 2013/14. Concerns remain the same with the electric cars namely, limited charging infrastructure and high battery maintenance costs are hampering their growth.
