Algeria, EU sign energy cooperation agreement


(MENAFN) EU commission president Jose Manuel Barroso, and Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal signed on Sunday a strategic agreement that aims at developing energy cooperation between the two countries. The deal, which has been first discussed in 2008, comprises a board area of cooperation, including the renewable energy sectors. It's worth mentioning that Europe relies on Algeria as the third largest provider of natural gas, covering 13-15 percent of the 28 member states needs.
