UAE- Four youths accused of trying to murder another
(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A student and his three accomplices, who allegedly tried to kill a compatriot by stabbing him many times with swords and knives, have all been charged with attempted murder.
It is believed that the student, a 32-year-old Emirati, identified as S.K. and his friends, including two Yemenis, identified as A.S., 19, and S.S., 33, and another Emirati, identified as M.A., 21, dragged the victim out of his house in Rashidiyah at night and assaulted him with the intention to kill him.
S.K. and A.S. have also been charged with trespassing into others' property.
They denied the charges in the Court of First Instance. The victim's cousin, a 20-year-old Emirati, said that on April 8 his brother called him to go to Mirdiff Park.
"A brawl that ensued between the defendants and the victim and his companions regarding the theft of a mobile phone, turned into a big fight."
The witness added that S.K. and A.S. knocked on the victim's house at night two days later, after having called him on phone earlier.
"They forcefully dragged him outside. S.K. also wanted the victim to bring his younger siblings outside".
The victim's sister and cousin, who saw the defendants attacking him with swords and knives, rushed to help the victim and pulled him away from S.K. and his friends. "My cousin had multiple stab wounds and we called the police. He was then rushed to Rashid Hospital".
The victim's other cousin, a 24-year-old Emirati housewife, said in the investigation that she was in her room around 1am when she heard someone screaming. She went outside and saw the main door open.
"My cousin was lying down while S.K. was attacking him with a sword".
She could not tell how many men were there or tell their descriptions as she was very shocked at the time. She and her brother pulled their cousin inside.
"Everybody ran away except for S.K. who stayed there smiling with the sword in his hand".
They entered the house and locked the door. The victim's younger cousin, a student, 18, said that they were playing football in the park when his phone was stolen from the bench where he left it.
"When I asked A.S. about it he said he was not a thief. S.K. then told him to slap me and he did, so I ran away". He said A.S. looked as if he was on pills.
A police captain said that they arrested three defendants in Sharjah the day following the incident. They admitted in the interrogation that they attacked the victim.
A medical report showed the victim was stabbed in the backside of the neck, head, chest, arms and hands. He was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in critical condition and was discharged one week later.
