UAE- Dad torture's son with shocks

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police have arrested the father of an Asian boy for allegedly torturing him with electric shocks. Ahmed Ibrahim Al Tartour, the Director of children's rights at Sharjah Social Services Centre, said the father was abusing his child with electric shocks for every small mistake he made. The man was also abusive of his wife and he allegedly beat her. At one point they had received a complaint from a relative but when the officials tried to rescue the wife, the husband seized her phone and they could not contact her. Al Tartour said as the centre was notified about the child abuse incident, they rushed with the Sharjah Police. The father was arrested and the other family members were also rescued. In the mobile phone footages, taken by his wife, the father was found abusing his son with electric shocks. She had filmed her husband without his knowledge. The footages show the man making his son sit in the electric chair and giving shocks. At one stage the boy fell from the chair but the father ordered him to sit back and resumed the punishment. Al Tartour said the father has been referred to prosecutors. "Violence against children is a serious crime and the UAE as well as international laws all punish domestic abusers and also protect the rights of children," he said.
