The distributors have prepared a range of cost effective subscription plans, with broadband speeds of up to 15 Mbps. At a briefing, Yahsat Deputy CEO Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, said Yahsat will complement the offering from established UAE telecommunications providers to ensure that end-users, irrespective of their location in the UAE, can enjoy access to reliable broadband internet. Speaking on the occasion, Shawkat Ahmed, Yahsat Chief Commercial Officer said, the new broadband service would prevent business and enterprise users from losing connectivity and provides an instant backup solution in case of terrestrial internet outages, including those resulting from undersea fibre cable cuts. About the tariff, Ahmed said it depends on the package subscribed. There are several comparable packages, to attract businesses and households. Ahmed said the companies can subscribe to YahClick Insure, a product designed to provide backup facility to the businesses who wanted reliable internet connectivity. Businesses have to pay a nominal monthly "keep alive'' fee, and only pay the bill when the internet service is used. He said he hoped this product would be popular with the commercial consumers. The company is embarking on country-wide awareness campaign to approach all the leading commercial enterprises, MNCs, oil and gas industry, disaster management agencies, government departments and financial institutions, he said. YahClick is beamed through Yahsat's Y1B satellite, which was successfully launched in April 2012. It is the first satellite in the region to offer internet connectivity through Ka-band multi-spot beams, with reusable frequencies to maximize spectrum efficiency. YahClick was originally launched in the last quarter of 2012 in Angola, Afghanistan, Iraq, South Africa, and Nigeria with subscribers ranging from a mix of energy, construction, agro-based verticals, SME and NGOs, looking for more reliable internet connectivity and higher speeds. The broadband service will be fully operational across a coverage area spanning 28 countries throughout the Middle East, Africa, Central and South West Asia by the end of 2013 in partnership with 30 leading in-market Service Partners. The local distributors, SkyStream is part of the Atlas Group International, which is engaged in providing satellite Internet access and secures satellite communication solutions with customers primarily based in the marine, military and energy sectors.
