UAE- Three accused of killing businessman for robbery

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Three men stabbed an Iraqi businessman to death with the intention of robbing him of his vehicle, mobile phones and cash, a court heard. The three Afghans, including two visitors and a mechanic, in the age group 21-22, faced a murder charge linked with robbery in the Court of First Instance. A policeman said that he was patrolling along with a colleague in the International City on November 6, 2012, when at 2.30am they spotted the car of the main defendant, B.S., speeding and suddenly swerving on the road. "It made us suspicious and we followed the driver until he parked in a parking lot in the Russian Cluster." There was blood on his shirt and he claimed to the cops that he bled from his nose while playing tennis. B.S. failed to produce an ID card or the registration card of the car. The police suspected it was stolen. He was referred to the police station as he did not have a driving licence. "His shirt was unbuttoned and we saw he had a wound on his chest. We knew he lied about his nose bleeding". The accused then admitted he killed the car's owner, an Iraqi, claiming the latter had tried to sexually assault him. Another police corporal said that the defendant was sweating and looked tense when they stopped him that night. "He had a stab wound on his chest and admitted to killing the car owner in his office and locked the office." The defendant alleged the victim had brought him from his country for work but instead used to ask him for massage services. "On that night, the victim allegedly tried to have sex with him so the defendant punched him. The victim then took a knife and stabbed him in the chest". B.S. snatched the knife from the victim and stabbed the latter to death. He, however, gave contradictory statements about the presence of his accomplices with him at the time of the murder. The victim's brother said that he (the victim) owned a company that rented out heavy motor vehicles. "He always kept large amounts of cash in his wallet. I did not find his wallet in his car". The victim would carry around Dh200,000 a day for business expenses. The victim's Iraqi friend said that the main accused had been harassing the victim constantly asking him for money and job. "B.S. wanted him (victim) to buy an air ticket for him as his visit visa had expired. The victim was known for his good conduct and reputation".
