UAE- Call for talks to settle occupied islands issue


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The participants at the 13th African-Arab Parliamentary Conference, held with the participation of the UAE Parliamentary Division in Rabat from June 26 to 27, called on Iran to immediately commence dialogue with the UAE to settle the issue of the three UAE occupied islands: Tunb Greater, Tunb Lesser and Abu Mousa, amicably in accordance with the principles of international law. They stressed in a communique the sovereignty of the UAE over the three islands. The UAE was represented at the conference by Sultan Al Shamsi and Faisal Al Tunaiji, members of the Federal National Council (FNC). Al Shamsi and Al Tunaiji met on the sidelines of the conference with Dr Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, President of the House of Councillors. They exchanged views on a number of issues. The communique reiterated the importance of coordination between the African-Arab Parliamentary Conference and international organisations such as Unesco and other non-governmental Arab and African organisations in the area of strengthening the cultural diversity and dialogue.
