UAE- Family of injured victim 'threatened'

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  The Sharjah Police on Sunday arrested 12 illegals, of African and Asian nationalities, for distributing fliers to passersby and pushing them under the doors of houses in a bid to advertise the services of restaurants and companies in various parts of the city. The men were arrested as part of intensified campaigns being carried out by the Sharjah Police in coordination with concerned departments. The move is being taken under the orders of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah to combat the phenomenon of illegal advertising. Many violators distribute fliers throughout residential buildings and put up stickers and papers on walls, which affects the cleanliness of the city. Director of the Search and Investigation Department of Sharjah Police Colonel Jihad Sahoh said that the inspection campaign targeting such illegal activities will continue until the phenomenon disappears. "The sticking of papers and stickers on walls distorts the beautiful view of the city and also disturbs the residents of apartments," he said. Col. Sahoh urged the public to cooperate with the police and inform them about people who practice such illegal activities as well as any other kinds of practices that affect the environment and disturb the public by calling Najeed services 24/7 on the toll free number 800151 or 065632222 or 999.
