CNPC starts building China's first dedicated shale gas pipeline

(MENAFN) China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) stated that it has started constructing China's first dedicated shale gas pipeline, reported Xinhua News. The country's biggest oil and gas producer and supplier also said that the new pipeline is designed to have a transport volume of 4.5 million cubic meters per day and will be 92.8-km long. It will link gas wells in the Changning block to a gas line that leads to neighboring Yunnan Province. CNPC added that the pipeline will be in southwest China's Sichuan Province. It is worth noting that CNPC is a Chinese state-owned oil and gas corporation and the largest integrated energy company in the country. It has its headquarters in Dongcheng District, Beijing, and is the parent of PetroChina, the second largest company in the world in terms of market capitalization as of June 2010.
