UAE- Italian embassy delegation visits Al Maya

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Al Maya group director Kamal Vachani welcomed the Italian delegation led by Ambassador Giorgio Starace, Consul-General Giovanni Favilli, Economic and Commercial Attache Viviana Caponi and Trade Commissioner, Italian Trade Commission, Dubai, Ferdinando Fiore at Al Maya supermarket at Murooj Complex. The UAE-based business conglomerate, which runs more than 35 supermarkets in Gulf countries in addition to other businesses, is keen to promote Italian products in the UAE and other countries in the region, according to Vachani. During the discussion the Italian ambassador appreciated Al Maya Group and its efforts to promote quality products in the UAE. Vachani, who visited Italy last year, said there is great potential between both the countries for a significant increase in trade. Trade ties between the two countries are flourishing for the last couple of years and 2011 witnessed an increase of 28 per cent in exports from Italy to the UAE. Last year, there was a further increase of 16 per cent in Italian exports, positioning the UAE as the number one market for Italian exports in the entire Middle East. Al Maya Group stocks/sells pasta, pasta sauces, coffee, biscuits, can products, chocolates, oil, household items, etc from Italy, said Vachani. The group, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, fulfills the needs of almost all nationalities for the last three decades. "Our network of supermarkets chain serve a majority of nationalities in the country," Vachani said.
