(MENAFNEditorial) (EMAILWIRE.COM, June 19, 2013 ) SCOTTSDALE, AZ Phillips Law Group extends their condolences to the family who suffered a tragic loss Monday when their 8-year-old boy died of Serious head injury after a bizarre accident near Hayden Road on Loop 101. The boy was traveling in a minivan driven by his mother when an unidentified male passenger, who is not related to the family, became upset and snatched the wheel. The minivan, which was headed westbound on Loop 101, swerved to the right of the roadway and crashed into a light pole on the overpass.
The boy, who was sitting in the backseat, sustained serious head trauma and was pronounced dead at the hospital. A male relative, 15, who had also been traveling in the back seat, was released on the scene with minor injuries. Both had been wearing their safety belts. The boy's mother and the unidentified passenger also suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital, according to Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves.
The collision did not involve any vehicles, and it is yet unknown why the passenger became agitated and reached for the steering wheel, or why he had been traveling with the family. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
