Kuwait- Officers register 24,958 traffic citations across 6 governorates


(MENAFN- Arab Times)  Officers from the General Traffic Department, in their campaign across the six governorates from Sunday June 7 to Saturday June 15, registered 24,958 traffic citations and seized 555 vehicles and detained 140 people in the police stations. They also dealt with 1,878 accidents and enforced 37 service orders. An Interior Ministry statistics indicated that 6,144 citations were registered in Capital governorate, where officers seized 74 vehicles and referred 28 people to the police station. Officers issued 1,330 citations and impounded 30 vehicles in Farwaniya, and went on to detain 19 people in the cell, while the operation in Hawalli governorate resulted in the issuance of 6,613 violations and detention of 53 people, in addition to 57 vehicles that were towed to the ministry garages. In Ahmadi, 4,793 citations were issued against motorists by traffic men who impounded 86 vehicles and detained 27 people in the cell, while officers from Mubarak Al-Kabeer recorded 457 violations, seized 8 vehicles and took one person into custody. And, 5 people were detained in Jahra where traffic officers issued 1,594 violations and towed 50 vehicles to ministry garages. Meanwhile, the Operations Department registered 3,725 citations at the weekend. They also impounded 250 vehicles and 7 detained motorists, while officers at the airport registered 302 violations and seized 3 vehicles. The Security Media Department urges motorists to comply with the traffic rules and regulations to evade penalties and traffic accidents
