UAE- Man accused of threatening cop

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  An electrician stood trial in the Dubai Court of First Instance charged with threatening a police officer that he would frame him in a criminal case unless the latter wrote off a traffic ticket he had issued him. The 36-year-old Syrian has also been charged with verbally abusing the on-duty traffic policeman. The complainant, a Yemeni police sergeant, 45, said during investigation that on November 27 last year, he issued the defendant a traffic ticket when he found his car left parked in a non-designated area at Al Nakheel in Naif. "It was around 11am and the car (engine) was on," the sergeant said. The defendant came shortly after and begged him to pardon him and cancel the ticket. "He was talking too much. I handed him the ticket and left." The accused called him on his mobile phone later on the same day and asked him again to cancel the ticket. "I have no idea how he got my number. He told me not lose him even though I don't know him." The following day, the accused called him again and allegedly threatened him saying 'I will be on your trail at any time you are on duty so that you would issue me more tickets. I will put you in trouble to make you a lesson for all other Naif police officers'. The accused threatened the complainant that he would frame him the same way he had framed a Bur Dubai policeman who used to issue him tickets. "I will not leave you before framing you in a malicious case," the police sergeant quoted the accused as threatening him.
