US Q1 current account deficit up to USD106b

(MENAFN) US Commerce Department released data showing that the country's current-account deficit climbed to USD106.1 billion during this year's first quarter, reported Xinhua News. The department also stated that the deficit climb was 3.7 percent higher than the revised figure of deficit in the previous quarter. Surplus on income dropped to USD52 billion in Q1, down from USD57 billion in the previous quarter, while goods and services deficit went down USD3.7 billion and reached 127.4 billion in the second quarter. It is worth noting that the decrease in surplus income alongside a rise in outflows of net in unilateral current transfers, partly offset by the rise in services surplus, caused the increase in current-account deficit.
