Saudi Arabi awards Veolia contract for desalination plant


(MENAFN) Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu made an announcement stating that Marafiq, the Saudi power and water utility for Jubail and Yanbu, awarded the French firm Veolia Environnement a contract for a reverse-osmosis desalination plant on the Arabian Gulf by, reported Bloomberg. The commission also said that two units of Veolia, Sidem France and Sidem Saudi Arabia, will be designing, building, operating and maintaining the plant. It is worth noting that Veolia Environnement is a transnational French company (TNC) with activities in four main service and utility areas traditionally managed by public authorities which are water supply and water management, waste management, energy and transport services. In 2011, Veolia employed 331,226 employees in 77 countries. Its revenue in that year was recorded at USD39.31 billion.
