Saudi- Seven new Jeddah projects to ease traffic congestion
(MENAFN- Arab News) Â Jeddah mayor Hani Abu Ras said that seven new projects will be implemented soon to solve the problem of traffic congestion in the city.
"The projects include flyovers and tunnels at a number of intersections," he said in a post on a social network site according to local media.
Two projects will be announced within the next couple of months, he said, adding, "One will include the Prince Majed intersection with the Television and Xenal road, while the other is the Prince Majed intersection with Makkah's old road via a flyover and a tunnel."
He said that the Secretariat had handed over the flyover site project on the King Fahad intersection with Rawdah to the contractor who won the bid.
Another project to build a tunnel under the Prince Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz intersection with Madinah road will be announced soon.
"We expect that construction work on the tunnel under the intersection of Prince Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz road or Tahlia with Maqrouneh road will be completed during the holy month of Ramadan next year," he said.
The Jeddah mayor answered questions about the Breeman flyover, stressing that this project in particular is not the responsibility of the Jeddah Secretariat, but the Ministry of Transportation. "All flyover projects on Haramain road are implemented by the Transportation Ministry," he said.
