IMF to lend Tunisia USD1.74b


(MENAFN) The International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that it has agreed to offer Tunisia a USD1.74 billion loan, reported Xinhua News. The IMF also said that the loan came as a precautionary measure with the intention of helping the Tunisian government in its budget for this year. It added that the funds, which were agreed on after months of negotiations, will help the Tunisian government bolster its economy's stability as well as boost the banking sector. The Fund also added that the loan will be given over a two-year period and will also aim to support Tunisia's suffering Economy as it goes through a dificult transitional period after all the political changes.
