UAE HAI Launches "Braille Quran for Every Visually Impaired in Palestine" Campaign


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM))  The UAE UAE's Human Appeal International (HAI) has begun its campaign launched under the banner "Braille Quran for Every Visually Impaired in Palestine". The first batch containing 300 Quran books in Braille of this campaign is being currently distributed. Director of the HAI's office in the West Bank Ibrahim Al Rashid stated that the bureau has distributed a number of Braille Qurans to universities, schools, public libraries, mosques' Imams , visually impaired students. The distribution comes right before the blessed month of Ramadan, and was funded generously by various philanthropists from UAE. Al Rashid added that the campaign is aimed at over 1000 visually impaired individuals in need for Braille Qurans. The books come in 6 big volumes per Quran. He also confirmed that the program of Quran distribution comes to empower the visually impaired Palestinians. The UAE HAI has also carried out other projects previously and aided various Palestinian centers. The aids included the establishment of an elevator for Al Khalil "Kafeef Foundation" for the visually impaired valued at 100 thousand Dirhams. An Index printer was donated to Jerusalem university , which enables the printing of the curriculum for visually impaired students, valued at 40 thousand Dirhams. A donation of two buses was made to "Nour Al Ain" Foundation in Jerusalem, valued at 200 thousand Dirhams. The Bureau has also supported the development of "Al Baseera" forum and Jenine "Kafeef" Foundation, with a contribution of 20 thousand Dirhams. Al Rashid alluded to the recognition ceremonies held yearly to honor visually impaired high school graduates. A number of Palestinian officials expressed their gratitude for the generous gesture from the UAE leadership and humanitarian organizations for their support to the Palestinian people. The Mayor of Tulkarm Jamal Saeed also held a ceremony to honor the UAE philanthropists, praising the UAE's stance in supporting Palestine and its people/ . Mohammed Zakarneh, Director of Education in Tobas prefecture , stated that "the campaign has been a great relief to the visually impaired students who can't afford the high cost of printing books in Braille. Ohoud Yaeesh President of the Women Union foundation in Nablus and sponsor of "Al Nour" school for the visually impaired, expressed her gratitude for this big help, clarifying that students interact directly with a book better than with audio means as it stimulates focus. The Braille Quran is a valuable addition to the Palestinian libraries that lack strong selections for the visually impaired. It is noteworthy that Emirati organizations and foundations, led by the Red Crescent , have been providing support on various levels to the different Palestinian segments. The UAE established a number of projects in health and education, and humanitarian relief on a wide scale in the Palestinian lands. The organizations also provide for orphans and families in need, reaching 20 thousand Palestinian families. The UAE has been present on the humanitarian field for over 20 years in Palestine.
