Yemen and Donors' Consultative Meeting to Convene in Sana'a


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Yemen and donors' 1st consultative meeting is to be held in Sana'a on 24 February to follow up the implementation of the outcome of the Riyadh donors meeting and the 4th meeting of Friends of Yemen in New York. The meeting will be dedicated to assess the fulfillment of the government and donors' commitments made at the Riyadh donors meeting and the allocation progress of the donors' funds to Yemen, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Sa'adi told the official news agency 'SABA' on Friday. The consultative meeting also aims to spot the difficulties hindering the allocation progress of the financial commitments made in Riyadh meeting as well as providing the solutions to overcome them, he said. The government and its development donor partners agreed to hold consultative meetings every three months and evaluation meetings every six months to assess the fulfillment of the commitments the government and donors have made at the Riyadh meeting, al-Sa'adi said. WB Country Manager to Yemen Wael Zakout said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and WB have completed the allocation of their financial pledges to Yemen. Zakout stressed that the WB would effectively support the Yemeni government's efforts to improve its absorptive capacities by providing technical and logistical assistances for the independent executive unit which would assume the tasks of absorbing the aid in order to be utilized well to enhance the comprehensive development in Yemen.
