GCC, World Bank discuss donor pledges to Yemen


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani met here on Wednesday with Hartfg Scheffer, regional director of World Bank and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the two sides discussed aspects of cooperation between GCC countries and World Bank, especially efforts exerted by GCC countries and World Bank in supporting development in Yemen. Also, they discussed "the executive body to accelerate absorption of donors' pledges," which was recently established by Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi. In addition, Al-Zayani encouraged World Bank to continue providing support to the executive body due to its capability of performing an important role in assisting with increasing pace of aid flow to Yemen, as well as providing required technical support in choosing, preparing, and following projects.
