USD6.8b solar projects to occur in ME

(MENAFN) Solar Middle East Conference's chairman, Jigar Shah, stated that the region will be home to USD6.8 billion worth of solar projects, reported Arabian Business. Shah said that these projects are aimed at enhancing solar power in the region. He noted that 10 solar projects will be located in the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco, noting that these projects have attracted many investors interested to take advantage of the region's growing demand for energy. It is worth noting that at the end of last year, Qatar said that it would ask companies to tender for a 1,800-megawatt solar energy plant in 2014, as the country and other Gulf states are reducing their reliance on oil and gas for revenues.
