Qatari Diar mulls tourism projects in Tunisia

(MENAFN) Diar, the property unit of Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), unveiled plans to build two tourism projects in Tunisia, the state news agency QNA reported. The Tunisian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Riadh Bettaieb said that the first project is a desert tourism resort in Tawzar, and the second is a luxury project planned for Ben Ghayada in Al-Mahdiya, a coastal city about 135 miles south of Tunis. The minister added that the projects are pending the completion of studies and are considered to be promising. The projects are of efforts aimed to strengthen the relations between the two countries ahead of plans for a Qatari business delegation due to visit Tunis in the coming months, Bettaieb noted. Qatar has other projects in the North African country including the Skhira Refinery project in southern Tunisia, which Qatar Petroleum is involved in.
