(MENAFN- Aswat Al-Iraq) Life returned to the Iraqi capital with the early hours of this morning, where roads were re-opened and the traffic seemed ordinary.
A curfew and closure of roads were imposed during the last few days, with strict security measures.
Markets were open today and telecommunications were restored, as reported by Aswat al-Iraq correspondent.
He added that the armed forces that scattered heavily during the last week were withdrawn from the streets and intersections, amid regular movement in the capital.
The Arab Summit was held during the last three days, 27-29 March, 2012, in the well-fortified Green Zone with the participation of 10 Arab leaders and 17 foreign ministers, as well as hundreds of political personalities that represented 21 countries participated in the Summit.
Syria was not invited for the Arab League boycott due to the violent actions taking place there.
The Summit witnessed the attendance of the Arab Spring countries, while Gulf leaders were absent except for Emir of Kuwait.
It was held in Baghdad, at a time Iraqi is facing internal challenges due to political differences among the party components on the participation in the rule of the country.
The Summit is the most important diplomatic event to be held in the country since 1990, where the Arab leaders met to discuss the issues of their countries, at a time the Arab region witnessed, during the last two years, the emergence of new regimes.
The Iraqi government spread greater number of armed and security forces during the last two weeks, while the government announced a one week holiday in Baghdad.
But all these measures did not prevent the eruption of explosions in a number of Iraqi provinces, including Baghdad which led to 50 killings and 100 casualties, according to official statements.
During the Summit period, no important violent events were reported, which was regarded by the government as "a success."
The New York Times reported that the costs of the Arab Summit reached to $ 500 million to provide security, accommodation, renovation of hotels and Baghdad's airport highway.
