Kuwait geared up for Lebanon in WC qualifier - KFA chief

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) President of the Kuwaiti Football Association Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said Saturday Kuwait were ready to face Lebanon in their last two Asian Group B qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Kuwait currently lie second in the group, equal on four points with leaders South Korea, while Lebanon trail behind with three points. Both Kuwait and Lebanon seek a desperate win in their upcoming match in Beirut, with Kuwait needing the win to secure their automatic progression to the next round, while Lebanon would have had its chances boosted for progression. Sheikh Talal was speaking to KUNA upon his arrival at Beirut's Rafic Hariri Airport to support the Kuwait national team. The senior football official was received by his Lebanese counterpart, Hicham Haidar and Kuwait Embassy to Lebanon Advisor Jassim Al-Najim, along with other embassy diplomats. He described the situation as a "to be or not be" one, adding that the winner of the match will have a door open to progression. He called on his nation's team to practice extreme focus during the match and not to be complacent when facing their Lebanese opponents, who will be playing among their home fans. "The Lebanese side played well in their last match against the UAE, managing to turn the result 3-1 in their favour, after being 1-0 down, and this should be taken into consideration. "Officials at the Lebanese (Football) Federation have provided Kuwaiti fans with a specified location at Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium. They are most welcome here as they have been provided with the most adequate facilities. " The 25-man Kuwaiti squad have been training at Beirut's northeasterly-located Bourj Hammoud Stadium since Wednesday, under the guidance of their Serb-born manager, Goran Tufegdzic and his assistant Abdulaziz Hamada. The two teams will face one another on Tuesday.
