Industry Minister to meet with his counterpart from Syria, Lebanon and Turkey


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Minister of Industry and Trade Amer Hadidi on Saturday with take part in a meeting in the Turkish city of Istanbul with his counterparts from Syria, Lebanon and Turkey that will discuss means of forging closer trade relations among the four countries. A statement issued by the ministry said the meeting will also touch on means of promoting economic integration, facilitate trade exchange among the four countries and attract and promote joint investments. "The discussions will also deal with industrial integration and ways of increasing exports to the European Union market, the statement added. The meeting is an outcome of the a joint political declaration issued on June 10 to set up a higher council for cooperation between Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey. Jordan signed free trade agreements with Syrian and Lebanon which are also members of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA).The Kingdom''s trade exchange with Syria and Turkey stood at $1.2 billion last year.
