Morocco- Ministry of education taking necessary measures, says minister

(MENAFN- Morocco Business News) The Minister of education, Ahmed Akhchichine, has announced that his department is taking the necessary measure to prevent the spread of the A/H1N1 virus, known as swine flu, in Moroccan schools. With the beginning of the new academic year, which coincides with the season when influenza most spreads, much concern has been voiced over the propagation of the virus among students. This is why the Minister, during a TV program late last week, stressed that the ministry of education, in coordination with the health ministry and the experts of the World Health Organization (WHO), is striving to take the necessary measures to prevent any such disaster. He explained that these measures consist in sensitization campaign on behalf of teachers and students alike, both in terms of prevention and interventional in case of an eventual outbreak. These also include the closure of any school where the virus seems to be spreading. Until August 27, the number of people infected by this disease reached 134, most of whom (124 people) have left hospital after full recovery, according to the health ministry. To face up to this spreading virus, declared pandemic by the WHO, the health minister, Yasmina Baddou, had announced that her department is devising a region-based strategy and strengthening preventive measures. She noted that the strategy includes mobilizing the ministry's different services and providing the required equipment for treating patients, as well as distributing information on prevention means. Baddou also reassured that the situation in Morocco is not worrying compared to other countries, adding that the WHO had praised the preventive measures taken by Morocco against the pandemic.
